Anne Austin Ellerbee, AAS, AF, NRP has been in the medical field as an EMT/paramedic for over 38 years. She started teaching public safety courses in the mid-1980s and began her formal teaching career in the technical colleges in 1988 where she was a program director for all EMS related programs. She serves as a training center faculty for the American Heart Association and has served on the executive committee for the West Georgia EMS Council for several years. She has traveled to Lagos, Nigeria, Africa to do AHA instructor training for physicians throughout the country and remains active with the development of on-line training for individuals overseas. HERO training is currently under contract to provide training to our OCONUS medics in Jerusalem.
Anne is a co-author in the Nancy Caroline revision of Emergency Care in the Streets paramedic textbook and has produced custom courses in 12-Lead interpretation and First Response courses. Recently, she traveled to Minneapolis, MN to take part in a Research Summit for the reknown Fisdap goup. She is Affiliate Faculty for many of the National Association of EMTs educational courses and has served as a state board member for International Trauma Life Support and the National Region 2 EPC Coordinator for NAEMT.
Mrs. Ellerbee has won many awards to include the bronze trauma award, EMT/Paramedic of the year for 1986 and again in 1993. She was a state regional EMS Instructor of the Year in 2002, 2007 and 2015. In 2004, she was winner of the Governor's DTAE Educator's Excellence Lighthouse Award. While serving in Iraq, she received a service medal award of excellence for her role in re-establishing the base clinic at the Baghdad Police Academy Annex after a devastating fire.
On her return home from Iraq she worked with the Department of Defense as a Flight Medic Instructor.
Hugh L. Coffee has worked as a paramedic/firefighter for over 30 years. During this time, he held both line and administrative EMS positions at the county and state levels. He has provided emergency medical care and instruction in the austere environments of Guatemala, Kenya, Sudan, Peru and more recently in the Ukraine providences.
In 1985, Hugh earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Georgia State University. He is the author of Ditch Medicine, published by Paladin Press. His magazine articles have been featured in Soldier of Fortune and American Survival Guide.
In the field of tactical medicine, Hugh is a graduate of the basic and advanced United States Park Police's CONTOMS (Counter Narcotics Tactical Operations Medical Support) program as well as Heckler and Koch's tactical medicine program. Hugh served for 15 years as the team leader for the tactical medics assigned to the Henry County Police SWAT team. He has completed a number of special operations courses such as the United States Army's SRT (Special Response Team) and Field Tactical Police Operations courses, FBI basic SWAT course and Clayton Regional Police Academy's SWAT Officer course. He is currently an ATOA Endorsed Law Enforcement Trainer.
Throughout the span of his career, Hugh has recieved numerous awards and commendations including the Chief's Award from Henry County Fire Department and Henry County Police Department SWAT Officer of the year on two occasions.
Personnel are available for overseas training and specialize in course/curriculum development for all levels of prehospital or clinical care providers.
